PROJECT: PERIMETER & AREA VOLUME & SURFACE AREA
You need to create something that shows me you understand perimeter, area, volume and surface area. I need more than just definitions to know you really understand these concepts, and how they are related.
Some ideas: ~A spreadsheet with the dimensions of several rectangular containers – use the dimensions to give examples of how you would find each of the measurements. Be sure to explain how each measurement relates to the others. (ex. - Does volume always increase when surface area increases?) ~ A poster with examples of how each is used in real life with dimensions, the necessary information to find each measurement, and pictures. ~A 3-D display of something with all the measurements found for your display ~A PowerPoint with examples of all these measurements, and how they relate to real life and each other ~A teaching booklet to use with younger students to help them understand these concepts
You may work in a group of 2-3 on this project. NO MORE THAN 3 PEOPLE IN A GROUP!!! More than 3 people = no credit on project!
You will have class time Friday, April 22, Monday, April 25, and Tuesday, April 26. You will present your project to the class Wednesday, April 27 and Thursday, April 28.
This project will count as a triple test grade! Do your best work! 75% of your grade will be based on the factual part of your project. In order to receive full credit, you must define each word, show me you can calculate these four measurements, show how each is related to the others, and show how these are relevant in real life. 25% of your grade will be based on the aesthetics of your project. Is it neat, complete, creative, unique, etc…?
Your presentation to the class will be a separate grade. This will count as a double quiz grade. Requirements for the presentation will be discussed at a later date. |
